This Hobonichi Techo cover was created in collaboration with Arts&Science, the shop and brand led by Sonya Park, who also oversees the English-language edition of the Hobonichi Techo, the Hobonichi Techo Planner.
This year’s leather is Wax Coating Kip, a vegetable-tanned kip leather finished with dye. The wax is worked into the surface by hand by craftspeople, drawing out a rich sheen while preserving the natural character of the leather.
The color is a deep, rich dark brown. The interplay of wax and dye creates distinctive variations in tone and a beautiful luster. The more you use it, the deeper the color becomes and the more the shine develops.
This is a techo cover you can nurture over time into something uniquely your own.
The design is kept simple — no metal fittings, just a belt that loops through. Even if your techo grows thicker from adding cards or stickers, you can adjust the belt to keep it shut.
The edges of the leather are left undyed, so the natural kip color shows through as a design accent. On the back, Arts&Science’s signature key motif is stamped into the leather.
It has a pen hook designed to hold a pen by its clip. On the inside, the logos “ARTS&SCIENCE” and “HOBONICHI” are blind-embossed into the leather.
Note: Also available is the Planner, an English-language techo overseen by Sonya Park. It’s been designed with thoughtful features unique to this edition, including bonus pages not found in other versions.

In order to allow customers the enjoyment of all-natural leather, the leather is processed in a way that retains its original feel. This may leave imperfections visible on the surface of the cover, such as wrinkles, scratches, stains, or vein marks.
Depending on the conditions in which the cover is used, natural oils of the leather may emerge and appear as stains. We ask for your understanding for these naturally-occurring characteristics of genuine leather.
This product uses leather with a highly distinctive character. The appearance of the leather varies depending on which part of the hide is used, so each item will have a one-of-a-kind expression. Please note that the pattern or texture may differ from what is shown in the product images.
Color may transfer to other items through friction or prolonged contact. This risk increases when the cover is exposed to water or sweat, so please take extra care when carrying it near clothing or other belongings.
