6 great things about the HON

It’s like a genuine book you can use without a techo cover. It’s compact and portable so you can carry it in your bag like you would a favorite book.

One page per day for plenty of room to write. You can use the book however you like. It’s the standard layout of the Hobonichi Techo, and is fun to read back through later on.

Available in both English and Japanese! There is also an English edition with the same format as the Japanese edition, but without holidays listed.

Comes in two sizes. You can choose from the compact A6 size or the A5 size with lots of space to write.

A closer look at the HON

Comes in a compact A6 size and an A5 size that allows plenty of room to write.
Uses the thin yet sturdy Tomoe River paper.
The thread-bound books have lay-flat binding that keeps the book open without needing to hold it down.

1 Moon phase
An illustration of the current moon phase listed in Japan time.
2 Day of the year
The cumulative day of the year counting from January 1st.
3 Old Japanese lunisolar calendar
The date of the old Japanese lunisolar calendar is included under the day’s date, as well as solar terms based on this ancient calendar.
4 24-hour timetable
Each hour is labeled with a dot, and every 30-minute mark is labeled with a line.
5 3.7 mm graph paper
The graph paper scale was designed to be perfectly sized for writing, drawings, and charts.
6 Daily quote
Each page features a quote from the Hobonichi website.
7 To-do list
The to-do list has checkboxes for keeping track of your goals for the day.
8 The “Secret Line”
This is a lightly printed line that can separate a schedule on the left from the open memo space on the right.
9 12-color tab
Each month is labeled with a different colored tab on the edge of the page.
10 Mini calendar
A mini monthly calendar that outlines the dates of the current daily pages.

10 cover designs

Slash (Navy) [A6/A5]
This is one of the basic design options for the HON. The dark navy cover almost looks black, and the diagonal slash is foil-printed in gold. The design is based on the forward-slash symbol ( / ) used when writing dates.

Slash (Ivory) [A6/A5]
The ivory has a soft look to it, complemented by the diagonal slash foil-printed in gold and is one of the basic design options for the HON. The cloth of the cover has a matte texture that feels nice in your hands.

Paper Series - Black Gingham [A6/A5]
The black background is embossed with a plaid pattern reminiscent of a gingham check. The cover is thinner and softer than other HON books, making it lighter to hold. It’s a simple design with no bookmark.

Hiroko Kubota: Waiting on the Chord [A6/A5]
A cat quietly sits on the keyboard of a piano. In this quiet world, someday, you'll be able to hear the music when it reaches your ear...that’s the feeling this design evokes. Kubota picks up the imagery of a previous work and further expands the world.

Virginia Lee Burton: The Little House [A6/A5]
The Little House is a picture book by Virginia Lee Burton and published in 1942. The front cover is designed with the striking, clear sky blue from the cover of the picture book.

Liberty Fabrics: Sasha Kiora [A6/A5]
This HON is made with a textile from the venerable British fabric brand Liberty Fabrics. The pink and light blue anemone flowers in this botanical pattern evoke a windswept meadow.

Bow & Tie: Galloping Horses [A6/A5]
This series uses the same textured, shiny fabric used in neckties. Inspired by the zodiac sign for 2026, this design shows horses walking and galloping in a row.

This series uses necktie fabric with a smooth texture and beautiful sheen. In a forest where bears, rabbits, owls, and birds live, it looks like there's even a techo resting on a tree stump.

MOTHER: Clay Figurines [A6/A5]
This is a collaboration techo with the SUPER Famicom™ game “MOTHER 2” (released by Nintendo Co., Ltd. in 1994), for which Shigesato Itoi was the game designer. This design features a lineup of clay figures that were used in the guidebook at the time of the product’s original release.

ONE PIECE magazine: Hiriluk’s Cherry Blossoms [A6]
This special edition HON features illustrations and quotes from the manga One Piece. The design weaves cherry blossoms, a scene-stealing moment from the Drum Kingdom featuring Chopper, Luffy, and Dr. Hiriluk's blooming flowers, into a necktie material.

ONE PIECE magazine, which dives into the charms of the world of the hit manga One Piece, teams up with the Hobonichi Techo, which allows users to cherish each and every day.
