The Hobonichi Techo is back with another collaboration with ONE PIECE magazine, which dives into the world of the hit manga series One Piece. This techo cover features a scene from the childhood of the main character Straw Hat Luffy, described in “Brothers’ Sake Cups” of the 60th volume of the comic series.

Ace, Sabo, and Luffy are sworn brothers. The design incorporates their respective image colors: orange (Ace), blue (Sabo), and red (Luffy).

When Ace and Sabo were ten years old and Luffy was seven, they exchanged cups of “Brothers” Sake and formed a bond. This flashback depicts the days when they slept, ate, fought, and laughed together while training to become stronger.

On the inner cover, you will find a unique graphic printed that is not included in the comics; it is a scene from “Luff,” a specially created episode by Eiichiro Oda for Vol. 1-3 and 12 of the ONE PIECE magazine.

The right-hand pocket is silkscreen-printed with the silhouette of the three characters.

A powerful scene from “Luff” is also featured in the center of the inner cover. The left-hand pocket features a collaboration logo for ONE PIECE magazine and the Hobonichi Techo.

The spine of the cover has the letters ASL and is designed to recreate the look of ONE PIECE magazine’s book spine.

A heartwarming flashback scene

Our collaboration with ONE PIECE magazine is now in its third year. For this edition, we have incorporated results of the reader survey into the book, covers, and stationery. We wanted the techo covers to link with the readers’ favorite scenes and make them want to look back at the One Piece stories again.

The “Luff” episode that Eiichiro Oda specially drew for the ONE PIECE magazine inspired me to feature the three brothers, Ace, Sabo, and Luffy. I was impressed with the luxury of being able to read the story of the three grown up that was specially made for ONE PIECE magazine, and wanted to create something based on it.

The front cover features a reminiscence of the three little brothers that will touch your heart just by looking at it. On the inner cover, the three brothers are depicted as dignified adults. This extraordinary combination was made possible by collaborating with the ONE PIECE magazine.

We’ve compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Additionally, the color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.

Cover may contain variations in stitching or loose lining: Due to the structure of the cover that opens flat 180 degrees, exterior stitching areas may appear puckered and lining material may be loose.

Pen holder fits pens up to 13.5 mm wide: The pen holder is designed to fit the 12.2 mm (0.48") diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free Hobonichi Store Exclusive Bonus. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53") in diameter.

Color and print may vary slightly: The cover's color and print pattern are created by dyeing or printing onto white fabric. While we take care to ensure consistency during production, slight variations in color or pattern may occur between individual items. This may also happen across a single cover, such as a pocket compared to the rest of the cover. Minor print blurring or uneven coloring may also be present. In addition, on rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the print. This is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
