minä perhonen creates timeless, all-original garment textiles that are specially dyed, embroidered, and woven to recreate hand-drawn designs.

We’re pleased to bring back the piece, series for the 2025 spring lineup. These patchwork covers are assembled by hand using all the left-over pieces saved during the production of clothing.

The Weeks Spring Mix cover is a patchwork design that comes to life with the union of ten meticulously created textiles of various colors, fabrics, and styles. In the hope that you will feel the arrival of spring with flowers blooming around you and feel lighthearted when picking up your techo daily, we combined fabrics with flower motifs such as “flower crown” and “twin flower.” We also use the “rytmi” textile featuring pencils in its design to represent the handwriting that expresses the users’ habits and emotions.

The cover interior is made from cow leather in a deep green. It’s accented on the top left with a butterfly embroidery.

The pen hook is designed to hold a pen by its clip.

The zipper pull contains a loop made of natural leather, which is accented with a butterfly charm.

Each patch is cut from a different spot in the original textile and sewn into the patchwork by hand, giving every cover an entirely unique look. We hope you enjoy the differences in feel and texture of each textile.

Textiles used in piece, (Weeks Spring Mix)

1. fruitree (2023-24 Autumn / Winter)

The abundance of fruits on the trees looks like light illuminating the forest. The design evokes a story of animals excited by the fragrance of fruits brought by the wind.

2. centofiori (2015-16 Autumn / Winter)

This Velvet Jacquard textile shows a field filled with blooming flowers, this time in a way that will continue to bloom throughout even the coldest winter.

3. pomppia (2023 Spring / Summer)

Rabbit faces drawn in diverse touches are portrayed as a continuous pattern. The design reminds us of the connections between living creatures and events of the world.

4-A. yula (2021-22 Autumn / Winter)

This textile depicts flowers blooming side by side and swaying in the gentle wind.

4-B. rosy (2018-19 Autumn / Winter)

Thick threads draw out blooming roses that protrude from the fabric for a simple and gentle look reminiscent of an oil painting.

*4 is available in two types of fabrics, and you can choose from either A or B.

5. twin flower (2024 Spring / Summer)

The design depicts flowers of different colors and shapes cuddling up to each other. It evokes a pleasant relationship of helping and being helped by each other.

6. tambourine (2000-01 Autumn / Winter)

Freehand-drawn circles are embroidered in dots that protrude from the fabric in this minä perhonen classic.

7. rytmi (2024 Spring / Summer)

The design depicts pencils lined up in a rhythmic pattern. It was born from an aspiration to preserve the quality of tools that reflect the users’ habits and emotions.

8. jellybeans (2002 Spring / Summer)

Drops in gentle colors connect as if a rain of light is falling. Each drop is water-colored in a sweet, luminous color.

9. flower crown (2024 Spring / Summer)

The embroidery expresses the lively flowers and grasses that bloom with the arrival of spring. The design reminds us of the flower crowns we made in our childhood.

10. tähti (2023 Spring / Summer)

The design looks like an accumulation of light in the night sky. The series of dots in velvet jacquard reminds us of blinking starlight.

*The years in parentheses are the seasons the designs were first released.

About minä perhonen

minä perhonen is a brand created by designer Akira Minagawa.

First founded in 1995 under the name minä, and renamed “minä perhonen” in 2003. In Finnish, “minä” means “I,” and “perhonen” means “butterfly,” expressing Minagawa’s hopes to create designs as light-hearted and beautiful as a butterfly’s flapping wings.

Five types that you can choose from

The 2025 edition minä perhonen techo covers come in five designs: “hütte,” “jellybeans + tambourine,” “pomppia,” “anone-anone,” and “piece.”

“hütte” is a textile with a cute contrast of green and orange. It gives a fresh look, as there have not been many designs with such a clear contrast. The subdued beige color of the inner cover enhances the textile pattern and is also very nice.

“jellybeans + tambourine” is a pretty refreshing design with the “tambourine” embroidered in smoky green on the light-colored “jellybeans” fabric. The freedom and loveliness of adding embroidery on top of a patterned textile makes us feel the expansion of the minä perhonen textiles.

“pomppia” is an impressive design, with different patterns making the rabbits look different. In addition to the ever-popular navy and white embroidery of the Cousin size, we now have the Original size in light blue with yellow embroidery. The brightly colored inner cover would be great for those who prefer bright and colorful designs.

The “anone-anone” uses the textile used for the 2024 edition cover. We added a 5-Year Techo cover to the lineup so that you can use it for a longer period of time.

The 2025 edition of “piece,” has become another unique design, with the new “fruitree,” “hanaha,” and “village” textiles added to the standard “tambourine” and “tarte” textiles. We hope you will find your own unique “piece,”.

Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

Actual specifications may vary from listing

Each item is individually assembled and sewn by hand by a factory worker. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.

Pattern alignment varies by product

The patterned fabric has not been aligned to a specific layout, so the placement of each design will vary by product. The product will not be an exact replica of the one in the product photographs.

Threads may protrude from embroidered area

Please note that embroidered areas may contain threads that protrude from the design.

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy as a result of sewing together materials of various thicknesses.

Patchwork patterns vary by cover

The textiles comprising the patchwork design differ by design and location for each cover. Please understand the random nature of the design before ordering.

Leather may contain preexisting wrinkles and marks

In order to allow customers the enjoyment of all-natural leather, the leather is processed in a way that retains its original feel. This may leave imperfections visible on the surface of the cover, such as wrinkles, scratches, stains, or vein marks.
Depending on the conditions in which the cover is used, natural oils of the leather may emerge and appear as stains. We ask for your understanding for these naturally-occurring characteristics of genuine leather.

Use caution around sharp objects

The material in this product snags easily on sharp objects, so please handle with care.

This cover is meant to be fitted with one side of the Weeks book cover

This cover is designed to hold only one side of the planner book cover. Forcing both sides of the book into the cover will place stress on the book spine and may cause ripping or hinder the zipper.

Avoid storing in hot and humid places

Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.

Usable with the Weeks Mega

This item can also be used with the Weeks Mega.

Inquiries about the minä perhonen collaboration covers

These Hobonichi Techo cover designs were directed by minä perhonen, but produced by Hobonichi. Inquiries about these covers cannot be answered at minä perhonen shop locations, so please contact the Hobonichi Store with any questions or concerns.

Test fountain pens before regular use

When using fountain pens or water-based ink pens, depending on the environment, you may notice smudging, bleed-through, or slow drying of the ink. We recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book beforehand, such as the back memo pages, before use.
